Treñas Bill Granting Mandatory Philhealth Coverage to all Senior Citizens now a Republic Act

philhealthHouse Bill No. 4455 of Iloilo City Representative Jerry Treñas was signed into law by President Aquino as Republic Act No. 10645. The new law provides mandatory Philhealth coverage for all senior citizens, amending the existing Expanded Senior Citizens Act. The existing law for senior citizens only limits Philhealth coverage to senior citizens who are bonafide indigents.

Senate and House Approves Treñas Bills Converting Elementary Schools into Integrated Schools

Increase in Tax Exemption of Bonuses now a Republic Act

Iloilo City Representative Jerry Treñas, a principal author of the bill and one of the strongest proponents of the tax exemption increase measure in the House of Representatives, said that he is grateful for the support of the President. “President Aquino fully supports this initiative. I pushed for this measure in the House and it garnered support from my colleagues regardless of their political affiliation. Treñas calls for the Privatization of MIWD’s Water Distribution Operations

As a permanent and viable solution to Iloilo City’s water problem, the representative of Iloilo City filed a House Resolution calling for the privatization of the water distribution operations of the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD). Iloilo Rep Jerry Treñas is pushing to privatize the MIWD, which he said could ensure the efficiency and quality of the distribution of potable water within the franchise area of the water district.
