Congressman Jerry P. Treñas
The Republic of the Philippines recognizes the need to maintain a reserved armed force in order to ensure the capability of our great nation to respond to both foreign and internal threats. In compliance with the 1987 Constitution, and with the provisions of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001, the Central Philippine University (CPU) maintains an outstanding Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) composed of dedicated, physically fit and mentally sharp students.
As part of the ROTC corps’ commitment and display of loyalty to the entire CPU family, the members of the ROTC are here to fly their colors in order to show the unit’s oneness with CPU’s Colleges and Administration.
The NSTP Program was institutionalized in recognition of the youth’s vital role in nation-building. It promotes civic consciousness among the cadets, developing the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being of the participants of the program. The ROTC, as part of the NSTP program, is designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize the youth for national defense preparedness.
It is the prime duty of the State to serve and protect its citizens. As members of the honored ROTC corps, the cadets of CPU are able and ready to defend our country from any threats it may face. The commitment and bravery of the ROTC cadets is a testament to the commendable values and character-building focus of the Central Philippine University. May the cadets continue to serve the ROTC corps with utmost zeal and patriotism.
