Congressman Jerry P. Treñas was elected as the Committee Chairperson of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability on August 4, 2010. The Committee is composed of 42 regular members, 37 of which are from the House Majority and five from the Minority.
The Committee was constituted with the jurisdiction over all matters directly and principally relating to malfeasance, misfeasance and nonfeasance in office committed by officers and employees of the government and of its political subdivisions and instrumentalities.
To date, the Committee has acted upon 54 referrals, including 42 House Resolutions, five House Bills and seven referrals which culled from Privilege Speeches or initiated motu proprio. A total of 22 meetings were conducted by the Committee since the start of the 15th Congress.
