Iloilo City Task Force on Street Children

The unified and concerted effort of the members of the Task Force has brought forth the successful implementation of projects such as scholarship program, counseling to parents and street children, continuous and close monitoring of children in the streets, foster care and providing referral services to families of children in livelihood projects and skills trainings provided by the local government and non government agencies, to name a few. The Task Force’s major accomplishment to date is the elimination of street children roaming and loitering in the streets of lloilo City for several years now. lt is also known for its annual project which is to search for the “Bulawanon nga Nanay” (Model Mother) and “Huwaran nga Anak”(Role-Model Child).

As the Chairperson of the Task Force on Street Children since 2003, Mrs. Treñas also acknowledges the untiring and selfless effort and contribution of the partners of the task force such as the City Social Welfare and Development, lloilo City Police Office-Women and Children’s Protection Desk (ICPO-WCPD), Department of Education-Division of lloilo City, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, Iloilo City Press Corps , NAPOLCOM, CHR, DOLE, Christ Centered Ministry, Salvation Army, Assumption Iloilo, St. Pauls University, University of San Agustin, University of Iloilo, PIO, PIA, Mayor’s Office and the Iloilo City Government.
