Mrs. Treñas is also involved in social welfare and causes particularly of the children sector when in 2003 she and together with some cause-oriented and civic minded private individuals established the lloilo Juvenile Welfare Association, which is now the lloilo Juvenile Welfare Foundation (IJWF) Inc. through the flagship project, the Dalayunan…a home for boys. Dalayunan is an alternative home for children in conflict with the law (CICL), the only residential rehabilitation center in lloilo Citywhichhascateredtotheneedsofover 2,000 CICL already. Early this year, IJWF underwent a program shift when it turned over the management of the Dalayunan Project to the lloilo City government in March 19,2011. IJWF continued its operation more focused on community-based program framework through preventive approach in the community level for the CICL and children at risk of offending.
