National Music Competition for Young Artist (NAMCYA)

Visayas Cluster Regional Center Competition
Welcome Remarks

Congressman Jerry P. Treñas

My warmest greetings to the participants, organizers and guests of the 2011 National Music Competition for Young Artist (NAMCYA) 2011 Regional Competition. Iloilo City is truly honored to host the regional finals of this year’s competition.

The NAMCYA aims to preserve and promote Philippine music by encouraging our youth to develop their skills in music composition and performance. The competition is also as an excellent venue to discover young artists who could eventually become the next stars of our rich music industry.

The annual NAMCYA competition is one of the most prestigious musical competitions in the country. Focused on this year’s theme of “Musika at Sayaw: Dangal ng Lahi,” I am sure that the competitors from the Visayas Cluster will showcase their exceptional musical talent through enchanting performances highlighting their cultural heritage. For the Ilonggo participants, this event is a perfect opportunity to display Iloilo’s unique artistic culture.

The participants will compete in numerous categories that will surely test their artistic creativity and musical talents. Our young competitors will have the chance to display their skills in various categories, including choir, dance, piano, rondalla, strings, woodwinds and traditional music ensemble competitions. The winners of the Visayas Regional Center Competition will compete in the National Final Competitions in November at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila.

May all of the participants captivate our hearts and minds through their exceptional displays of artistic excellence. The young talents competing here today are the pride of the Visayas Region. Good luck to all of our contestants and may you all enjoy the competition.
