A total of 520 beneficiaries coming from 11 associations all over Iloilo City benefited from the livelihood assistance of Congressman Jerry P. Treñas, under the Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Cong. Treñas, Mrs. Rosalie S. Treñas, Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, Vice- Mayor Jose Espinosa III, Liga President Roberto “Bobby” E. Divinagracia and DSWD Region-6 regional director Minda Brigoli led the distribution of P5,000 worth of SEA-K Livelihood Capital Assistance to each recipient at the congressional office in August.
The fund was taken from the Priority Development Assistance Fund of Congressman Treñas.
The recipient SEA-K Associations are Amethyst, Silver, Moonstone and Topaz in La Paz district; Opal and Turquoise in Lapuz district; Sun Stone and Amber in Molo district; Garnet and Gasper in Arevalo district; and Rose in City Proper district.
The SEA-K is DSWD’s micro-finance strategy program for small-scale entrepreneurs which do not have the necessary capital to jump-start their small business endeavors. The SEA-K capital is granted with no collateral necessary; it’s interestfree and payable within one or two years.
Prior to this, beneficiaries trained in food and fish vending, and sari-sari store operation.
Cong. Treñas plans to fund more SEA-K projects to benefit more Ilonggos.
